Pennsylvania Veterans Homes are Quality Driven

Dear Friends,

Our Pennsylvania veterans homes are quality-driven healthcare facilities that provide compassionate and cost-effective care to veterans and their spouses. Our goal is straightforward -- to be the best option for veterans in need of long-term or personal care services. I am proud to say that we excel in meeting this goal across the commonwealth thanks to our dedicated team of more than 2,200 employees including volunteers. Each day, our team makes a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.

Located throughout the state to serve veterans from every region, our six veterans homes offer various levels of care to meet your individual healthcare needs. Our clinical and professional teams hold veterans in high regard, with most of them being veterans themselves.

We look forward to providing you with exciting updates on our veterans homes, including events, messages from leadership within our homes, new construction and major renovations, employee awards and recognitions, and stories about the heroes we have the honor of calling our residents.

If you would like more information, please feel free to call us at 1-800-547-2838 or visit our website at www.dmva.pa.gov/veteranshomes. Within our website you will find a wealth of information about the various ways Pennsylvania veterans homes support veterans and their families.

Thank you for your interest in our veterans homes.

Veterans Homes Staff Recognized for Outstanding Contributions

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs recently recognized two Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home staff members with the Department’s highest honors.

Ms. Elizabeth Sul-Celline, Facility Reimbursement Manager, was named DMVA Employee of the Year. Through diligence and determination, Elizabeth was able to examine all resident files and identify those who are now eligible for updated VA benefits. For some of these residents, it has relieved the veteran and their family of any financial burden for the stay at the home.

Ms. Sul-Celline has also developed a training plan that will ensure the eligibility for benefits is conducted in a thorough and standard way across each of Pennsylvania’s six long term care facilities.

Ms. Emily Heubel, Admissions Coordinator at PSSH, received the 2024 TAG Award. This recognition honors someone whose dedication, perseverance and leadership have been instrumental in creating positive change in the department.

This year, Ms. Heubel was able to bring PSSH up to full capacity through understanding when long term care placement is the best option for a veteran. The transition to a home often comes at the most vulnerable part of a veteran's care, and Emily treats each resident and their family with compassion and understanding.

Congratulations to Elizabeth and Emily! DMVA’s Employee of the Year and The TAG Award recipients.
